Skopelos Press Titles

Our purpose is to create books that last. We're named for the Greek island of Skopelos, the 'blue and green' island, famous in ancient times for wine and shipbuilding. Like our namesake, we take inspiration from the blue sky of the imagination - and the practical requirements of the green earth.

From the Preface:

I make my living on the road, teaching the Toyota Way. It's an odd life ‒ sensei, scholar, stand-up comedian ‒ but one I've chosen and very much enjoy. These pieces were written in airports, restaurants and hotel bars. There are benefits to writing when you're tired. You're open to things you might otherwise shut down.

Why is a management consultant writing prose poetry?
My mother taught me poetry is story-telling. At bedtime she’d recite the adventures of Captain Kanaris, Bouboulina, and Odysseus (my favorite) in rhyming couplets. I know some good stories and wanted to set them down. The medium seemed natural.

Why did I write this book?
We live in difficult times. I'd like to help shift contemporary business discourse, in some small way, toward the Cardinal Virtues -- Prudence, Temperance, Justice and Courage -- and the great virtues in general.
We can remake ourselves. I work with people at every level who act with decency and courage, often in bleak circumstances. These pieces are dedicated to them.
